I've been to a consultaion for getting braces, but my mom is concerned if our blue cross/blue shield can cover braces...if so, how much would it cover if my braces cost close to $3, 000?

If you have orthodontic benefits, it will. Your mother could ask the insurance coordinator at your orthodontist's office. Most likely they will have all the information you need. Or your Mom can call BCBS herself.

Generally insurance will pay half, UP TO a certain amount. Most cases we see pay up to $1000-$1500. If they pay more than that then you have some phenomenal insurance.

I see this question a lot: "what is a good insurance plan for covering braces...?"

They don't seem to get the concept that it is NOT really the insurance company, rather it is what benefits were chosen by the employer when they bought the plan.

Many insurance carriers offer orthodontic benefit as part of a dental plan, but it costs more so some employers don't include it.

April's answer is correct: if there IS a benefit, it is usually 50% up to a lifetime maximum (between $750 and $2000).

I am unsure. If your insurance company won't pay for anything and you under 19 years of age it will cost $2100 for braces if your older than that it will cost $2,250 dollars with the health benefits below.

It cost $11.95 a month for an individual or $19.95 Per Month for entire household.

You get Free Prescription, Free Vision and Free Chiropractic Care.

They are with the BBB have over 1.5 million customer and been in business for 14years.

I would at least look into it to save your mom some money :)

Good luck to you

Blue Cross / Blue Shield is different in every state and there are many different plans. If you only have health coverage it will not be covered. If you have dental it may be covered depending on the reason you are wanting it - cosmetic reason only = it will not be covered
