YARD SALES! When my hubby and I got engaged, we recruited our parents to donate items they didn't want or need or use, we donated our own stuff, got stuff from other family members. WE had two yard sales and made enough to pay for all the tuxes, my dress, and a variety of other items. It was a great and easy way to make a little money for the wedding. Plus, if you have anything left, you can donate it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or a local church.

Requesting cash from people to help pay for your wedding is rude, vulgar, and apparently the latest crass thing the young ones do. Basically it's extortion from people who you apparentlly consider friends. If you simply have no money at all with which to stage a backyard wedding then I question as to whether you should even GET married in the first place! Perhaps you need to save up some money, as you must really be without funds if you can't say "I do" in your backyard with your parents, a few friends standing around, a couple of bottles of inexpensive champagne, and a few appetizers and a simple cake. Asking for cash shows not only greed but lack of class. Figure out another route.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Don't fundraise. Fundraising is for charity. You're not a charity. Decide on a wedding that you and your fiance, and your families if they will help, can afford. Pare down the guest list, keep it simple. Schedule it at a time when people won't expect a full meal. No fundraising.

just type in home weddings on amazon, i'm sure there are great books on it.

also, usually when people register, they add where they are registered on the invitation--- simply request cash to help pay for the wedding.

also, congratulations!!!

ps: watch father of the bride, and learn what NOT to do.
