"Ania", an Answers member since Feb. 10, 2006, has answered a question by stating," There are two thoughts on Cain's wife. One says that G-d had also put others on the earth. The other says that it was one of his sisters. Adam and Eve did have other children. And, then, THERE WAS NO STIGMA ON FAMILIES REPRODUCING WITH THEIR OWN."
If what was allowed in scripture, in this regard, has become an acceptable change thru the ages [ASSUMING THAT MOST OF US DO NOT NOW SLEEP WITH THEIR SISTERS ] then why can't other suposed INNITIAL words of God be understood differently today?

Adam was 130 years old when Cain killed Abel and Seth was born. So in 130 years the population could have been thousands. What ever relative he married could have been a stranger.

Adam had said of Eve that she was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. One sister and brother would have to pair. There was no incest law until 2515 years after Adam.

Jacob after 215 years in Canaan, entered Egypt with 70 family members and in 215 years they were half million as a population. Gen.46:27; 47:9,11,28; Num.2:32,33;

Cane's wife was his sister. Adam and Eve also had daughters. IF the bible had every thing that ever happened from the very begining of creation in it. This world could not house all the books it would take to hold them.

Men were an important part of the lineage that led up to the birth of Jesus. A few women were mentioned that played their own important roll in His lineage up to His birth. It is what it is. Cane's wife just as Noah's children married eachother to populate the earth and this was allowed by God, until He decided to change it and consider it insest and an abomination. God has His reasons for the things He does, and not all of them are our business.

Duet..32:8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

Does not this give us a clue that there was another creation prior to Adam?

Here is how it is understood by my religion (Judaism):

Adam and Eve didn't really happen. It was a metaphor. We cannot really comprehend how the earth and everything on it came into being. G-d could have created a ball of goo and then through evolution came the world as we know it. He could have created humans in stages, first apes and all the way up to homo sapiens. We don't really know. It is a MYTH. No different than any other religion's creation myth.

The Bible remains a holy book, but only a book.

The Church is the authorative voice of God in the world today, and the church continues to define the rules which govern faithful Christians.

No individual, no book, and certainly no other group has that power and authority.

At those times,the people were still close to perfection, babies born from siblings will not have abnormalities. The words of God should be understood as a protection for us. He knows best what is good for his creation...

If Cain married a relative, it was because God had not yet made a law forbidding it, thus it was not sinful. God later, when giving the law to Moses forbade such actions. We cannot change God's laws to suit our own desires. Only He can.
