Can he travel there alone?
How long can he stay there?
Does he need to apply for some sort of work permit if he wants to work?
I would be very greatful for as much detailed info as possible.
Thanks!

He can travel alone no problem, he can stay upto a year on a student work visa. Visit www.immigration.govt.nz the site is full of useful info on all aspects of NZ working holiday programmes and other stuff. I moved to NZ last year from the UK, its a great lifestyle out here and loads of opportunity for young ones. It would be a good life experience for him to come here. Good luck

My , then, 19 y.o. daughter went as an Earthwatch volunteer 2 years ago. If he's going to work, yes he will need a work permit. Best bet is to go as a tourist. My daughter was there for 4 weeks, so I don't think there's any time limit. The best flight deal we got at the time flight wise was Manchester to Singapore to Christchurch with Singapore Airlines, but check with your travel agent. She had a really brilliant time, so good luck to your son, but be prepared for him to come back talking about emigrating to New Zealand!

i say you let him fly there alone. stay for a few weeks. not letting him go may rob him of a great opportunity to to travel. i dont think you know how much it would mean to him if you let him go.
