I know everyone gets dry chapped lips in the winter, but mine are horrible. It has never been so bad in my life. when I get out of the shower its like the skin just peels off, or if I don't have something on them they are all dry and flaky and look horrible. It looks like my lips is raw. I'm so scared that it is never going to go back to normal?? I saw a dermatologist and they said to keep putting Hydrocortisone 1% on. Am I going to be okay???

when my lips get chapped i put carmex on them before i get in the shower and then let the steam moisturize them then when i get out i wipe most of it off with a towel and then take a moist toothbrush with no toothpaste on it and brush my lips just as i would my teeth (use a different one then what you use on your teeth)then i reapply some more carmex and usually the next day my lips are really smooth

You could be Vitamin B defficient, thats one of the signs, dry lips. Try some vitamins as well as continually applying lip balm. Use something simple, but thick like vaseline,

When I was pregnant my lips did that really bad too and I went to a doctors appt. and he said oooh you are not drinking enough water. So sometimes that could be a sign of your body no being hydrated. Stay away from sugary drinks like pop and juice and drink water. Sometimes acid and sugars and drinks will do that to your lips. I also use blistex that is heavily medicated to moisturize your lips, i only pay a dollar for it at family dollar, it's not that cheap waxy stuff(waxy stuff like chapstick do not use, only makes worse)

Drink 3 X the amount of warer you usually drink to keep yourself hydrated.

I use Blistex, and at night put alot of vaseline on my lips when I goto bed. if I wake up, I reapply.

the Santa Anna's here in Cali tear me up (~10% humidity, and I'm an "open mouth" sleeper)

You can use just plain vaseline, and they will turn back to normal in time.
