I have a T/C arms Encore and I just purchased a 28" Pro hunter barrel and a Nikon 4-12x50 scope, how high do the rings need to be for me to mount it properly? I see them in low, medium and high.

I would be very suprised if it would fit in anything but high rings and not touch the barrel. This you definitely do not want. Use a little blue Loctitle or Guntite to each screw in the mount and rings to keep from loosening.

Good choice on gun and scope manufacturers! My favorites.

Don't bother with the Ironsighter or any other see-through ring/mounts with this combination. With a 50 mm objective you will never see the open sights.

For those of you that don't know your firearms, the Encore is a weapon that you can exchange the barrels by taking off the forearm, driving out the pivot pin and putting on a different barrel reassembling in the reverse order. Having said that, there is no action to mount the scope on, the scope remains mounted to the barrel when it is removed from the receiver.

call Cabelas, the hoop/mount producer (I wager leupold can enable you recognize each thing approximately which of their jewelry you need to use) or the rifle producer. 40mm is fairly plenty a time-honored purpose diameter, in case you want to mount something low you will want a smaller purpose lens, in any different case the bell of the scop will touch the barrel. i'm guessing you will desire medium, yet i'm interior the fortunate place of having the ability to purchase the two and function spare instruments of jewelry mendacity around to purpose out. by applying the way, your head will no longer be plenty distinctive in length from a very grown person, so there is unlikely to be that plenty distinction. in spite of the shown fact that, you're genuinely top to need a low mount, yet you're able to ought to apply a 32mm scope to get it down there. For my searching gun i circulate with a 4 or 6x32 fastened as low as i will, i've got used as much as 24x and 56mm aims and that i'm completed with that silliness.

You're going to have to use Hi rings and you're better off using a mounting system that puts it out on the barrell. Any gun that the action and barrell are not perminately attached will have issues with zero at some point.

I agree with a high base mount or you can try an Iron Sighter which allows you to sight with your open sight looking under the scope. I believe Weaver makes one also. Been hunting since 1948. Bigbair---(Never let them see you sweat!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Dunno. As low as possible may be medium with that monster objective, but I'd bet you'll have to settle for high.
