Take the MARC train to Union Station then take the Metro's Red Line to the New York Ave station and walk the rest of the way. MARC and Metro are in the same overall building; you don't have to leave Union Station. If you will be arriving at night, take a cab from Union Station. It will be less than $10. That neighborhood (NY and Florida) is not the safest.

Check out the MARC train website at http://www.mtamaryland.com/services/marc/

The website for the DC metro/ subway is http://www.wmata.com/

If you give me more info about where you're coming from - I can give more details - ie. what part of Maryland do you want to start from? Also - I've lived in DC for 10+ years but have never heard of DCAA station? Do you happen to mean the metro station for DCA? which is the DC national airport?
