My brother has been back from the gulf war for about a year. He has severe post tramatic stress. He also has several untreated injuries as a result of battle. He refuses to get help. Is there a way to get someone to just visit him or something? He lives in Dallas, TX

You need to convince him he needs to be treated by the VA. Look up the local Veterans Administration Hospital in your regional phone book and give them a call to get admissions info. Or else contact your local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans or Amvets and tell them your problem; they might send a vet to talk with your brother or give you help in getting him into a VA hospital

Untreated injuries are a good reason to get him in there post haste. If they are life threatening neglecting to get treatment for them is a good evidence that he is a danger to himself. This requires proof but as a last resort it may be necessary to commit him.
