well me and my girlfriend have just recently started going out and when i call her we talk for about 25 or so minutes but then after that there is silence for a while. what are some good things to just ask that will make a conversation keep going? thanks for the answers

If you'd like you can ask her, "Penny for your thoughts?" That way oppening a window of opportunity for her to say something. If she says "Nothing," make something up or say something that you either saw, heard, or have been thinking about... even if the only event that occured today was seeing an adventerous squirrel running across the road as you were driving somewhere :)
Or, if you'd like a laugh or two to break the silence: "Meow" :) I know it sounds silly, but it's one of the silly ways to get somebody to smile :)

Open-ended questions are guarenteed to get conversation going again, but be careful so not to make them stupid///dull

That is normal. The next time just make the conversation shorter and come up with some reason why you have to go. Then, you won't get to that point. It is hard to keep a conversation going on the phone with someone you want to date.

laugh slightly and say boy we have really talked huh? this has been nice I've enjoyed it
or just ask her what her favorite something is to do?
favorite place to go ....ask questions of any kind that will start a conversation going...but don't ask a question that can be answered with a yes or no...

say man im hungry and say gawd if you could eat anything what would it be and tell her list ten things or take surveys with her on the phone
hmmmm or say get ready we are going to the mall or just random things like what you saw or heard or how you want to do something or what ever girls just like to talk
