Keep trying. Change search engines as some are a little biaised towards specific companies. There is no such thing as a free lunch but there are reaonable offers. Try less popular times or places, why go with the herd?

Ok fancy The Greek Islands? For example,,pick an island,,ok Crete,,find the cheapest flight online,,when you get to Crete,,get out of the airport to the coast,,then look for a cheap room,,these are called Pensions,,it means room for rent,,they are usually clean and practicle,,a cheap way to see some of Crete

It's usually better to book in advance to get the best rates. But i know there's some pretty good deals to egypt at the mo. Try looking at lastminute or expedia

Try first choice or type in address bar, cheap holidays Or lastminute.com hope you find your holiday you lucky thing I got another 7 months yet :(
