I am a boy. One of my best friends (who is a girl) told me that she thought another girl who is one of my friends fancies me.

I see your situation going in two ways. It could be that the girl that is your( best friend ) could be the one that fancies you, and may be using this fictious tale of another girl to test the waters with you first.
You go along with her story and listen to your gut feelings base on what she is telling you and take things from there. If this best friend is single and not involve with any one else you never know.
It may or may not turn out that she is the master mind behind this story. Which ever way it goes you are in an adventure of finding out the truth behind this story.
