Our brand new 2006 Nissan Quest is costing us $750 a month. Is there a way to trade it in for something less costly with lower payments? We've only had it since June of 2006 and have made a few payments.

Not very likely but it won't hurt to find out for sure.

Unless you put down a large down payment on your Quest, you probably owe several thousand more than it's worth. That would have to be added to the loan on any replacement vehicle that you bought. This would limit your choices on any replacement vehicles as there's not going to be enough "wiggle room" on a cheap vehicle to cover that excess amount. A relatively expensive vehicle might have that "wiggle room" but is only going to leave you in the same situation that you're currently in or possibly even worse.

Possibly, I would imagine you are upside down on the Quest. You will probably have to get something that has some pretty serious rebates on it so you can finance the full amount and work the $5000 plus in negative equity you probably have into the loan. Get something you will like, as you will have it for quite some time.

Chrysler,Ford and GM tend to have big rebates, but their minivans are rather lacking compared to the Nissan. And after 5yrs at $500-$600 a month, they will not get you much in trade.

Ford Freestar $5000+ rebate
GMC vans $2000+ rebates on '06 models
Chryler $3000+ rebates

A Kia Sedona might be a good choice. $4000+ rebates on '06
