There really isn't anything that you can do, except acknowledge that he has bone cancer. And, than just be his friend. No one can do anything, that's why you feel so helpless and scared. Just go be with him when he feels well, talk if he wants to talk, or just hang out.

That's all anyone can do. This is a monster that he has to fight if he can. And it is scary, but he will find his courage . . it is surprising how much fear we can all learn to live with.

Be strong.

give him all the positive support you can! i had thyroid cancer in 1994! it is hereditary! my mother had it when she was my age! now i in 2006 i have had breast cancer removed! i face 6 treatments of chemo every 2 weeks and i will lose all my hair! after that i have to have 6 wks radiation 5 days a week! i am scared too! i never had chemo before! i have found consolation in my 360 friends! especially one man that is in his early 40's and he was injured in a motorcycle accident some years ago! he works with dying people now what time he is not on bed rest! he also had to have one leg amputated and he is in a wheelchair for life from spinal cord damage! this man has brought me out of the depths of depression and when i think about how he survives alone and helps other people, i am not as scared! try a little tenderness and loving support! good luck my friend!

There is no way you can help what eventually is going to happen. I know it hurts to have somebody so close to you die, especially at a young age, but you can't help him because he's gonna die. I hate to be so blunt, but it's the truth. I had to cope when my 10 year old brother died of leukemia. The only way you can help your friend is by being his friend. Don't take extra steps into being super nice to him, people don't like that. Just do everything you guys have been doing. Let him know you'll never forget him

Try not to be afraid, you cannot help it,all you can do is to be there for your friend.Bone cancer is usually uncureable, but they may start chemo, and your friend may become very ill...i am sure your friend is scared, and rightly so,I would be....If he is religious try to help him to make peace with God by reading scriptures, and words of encouragement....I don,t think you can do anything for his mental problems as far as dealing with the cancer, but you can be there for him in his time of need....This is the time to show him you are there for him.He will need plenty of support, when you are with him try not to act sad,but put on your happy face and cheerful.I am truely sorry and I know this is hard on you too,but just do the best you can and try not to let this throw you into depression......

All you can do is be there for him. Be a good friend and give him support. If he wants to talk about it, then be a good listener. If he doesn't feel like discussing it, don't push the issue. Most importantly, treat him like your best friend and not like some sick person.
