Death is always a sad time and if my idea does not appeal to you please accept my apologies. In Ireland we have 'wakes' whenever someone we loved deeply passes away. We did it when my father and later my mother died. After the burial, we returned to her home and we all told stories that we remembered about his and her life. Some had a drink or two and we, the boys did our best to cheer up the girls of the family. In honour of each, we then had a good old sing-song which went on until the early hours of the next morning. Quite honestly, we were so tired over the next few days that there was no time for sadness. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed both nights - and it is the best way to mourn someone whom you loved deeply. You can actually feel their presence throughout.
May God rest her soul and may you find peace in your sadness..

People need time to greive, there is not much you can do, be supportive, offer a cup of tea or make dinner.

Try be helpful and sensitive to everybodies feelings.
