You don't! This sounds like an infected anal sac, and he needs vet care for it, or you can spread the infection and REALLY have a major problem. (blood poisoning) He will need antibiotics, as well.

Whether it be cysts of a general cleaning of the anal glands you should see a vet, and then you can ask them how they do it. I've never heard of cysts in the anus, so it may be the dog's anal glands which need to be cleared out on a regular basis by the vet- it's very common.

well are you talking about anal glands first? if you're not don't touch the cyst and take the dog to the vet. if you are talking anal glands well still take your dog to the vet. they can show you if you like. but it requires you to stick your finger in the dog's rectum. and if you don't know what you are doing or if the gland is clogged you can cause great pain in your dog. plus i don't know many dogs that will stand and let their owner's do this. the secretion you are going to get out of the gland will have one of the nastiest odors you have ever smelled and if you want to risk spraying this on your hair by all means then do it. personally i would pay the vet the average of $7-$10 that they charge to do it. but whatever floats your boat buddy.

Dang it ,do not do this on your own! Let a veteranarian do this, because most likely there may be pus in this gland ,and if a dog owner pops this cyst and its pusy you may spread an infection into the dogs rear end and you ll have one whopper of a vet bill because of it. Jan

Sounds like an impacted or inflammed anal glad. This is very painful for a dog. Take the dog to the groomer or the vet and have the glands expressed. Some people do this themselves, but I hear it's a messy and odiferious experience. I'd rather pay the groomer or vet to do it for me.
Good Luck to you and your dog.

You need to take your dog to the vet. The cysts may be a sign of heart worm, infection or any number of maladies. If you try and doctor the dog yourself you may make things worse.

You take it to the vet. If you mean impacted anal glands and your dog suffers from them frequently, ask the vet to show you how to clear them. You need a vet to show you how the first time, and probably supervise you the first time you try it for yourself, but then you should be able to do it yourself.

Let your vet do it, they know what they are doing especially when it comes to THAT particular area of the body.
