Okay... A few weeks ago, we had a meeting with the guys at the other branch of our company and I couldn't shake their hand cuz everytime I do, I get static. They misinterpret it and I got a memo from the boss.

My question is actually 2-in-1. First, as you've read, why do I always get static. Second, what do I do with the other guys and the memo from the boss.

Be sure to pick up your feet when you walk, especially in an office which will inevitably have synthetic fiber carpeting. Also, if there's anything near you: a desk, wall, whatever that you can casually touch just prior to shaking the person's hand this should discharge any static to the inanimate rather than the person.
As for the memo, let your boss and co-workers know that you're not trying to be rude you just don't want to shock anyone.

Buy a can of Static Guard, and use it on pants legs, socks, and sleeves of your clothes. Be sure and pick up your feet when you walk, do not shuffle, especially on carpet. Extra dryer sheets, or some softener in the rinse cycle will help, too.
Go tell the boss why you hesitated, and next time, just shake hands. If the other person gets shocked, so be it, this is not uncommon.

Try wearing rubber soled shoes...don't tools with rubber coated handles help prevent electrical shock? Maybe shoes with a rubber sole will work the same way. Just guessing, but worth a try, huh? Good luck.

Just read your add on. All you can do is explain the situation. It's not like you did that on purpose, wacky stuff happens. Or maybe tell them you had a cold and didn't want to expose them to it by hand shakes...you were just trying to be considerate.

Touch something like a table or chair or wall before shaking hands to discharge your electrifying personality.

friction from the carpet on your feet. discharge yourself on a doorknob or something first. As far as the other guys and the boss goes, tell the truth.

Clarify: what kind of "static" do you mean? Bad reactions or static electricity?

It's from doing the electric slide. Tone it down a bit.
