Of course; many Marxist leaders were Catholics; Fidel Castro went to a Catholic school run by priest.
One third of the priests in Poland during the Marxist occupation were spies; they had no choice.
Then again, we should remember that Communism is 'Christianity without Christ'. On paper, Marxism reads like true Christian living; the only difference is while Christians look forward to a heavenly kingdom with Jesus as King, Communists look to an earthly kingdom with the state as king...of course we all know that the 'STATE' never exists in a communist economy,,,only power hungry dictators.

Yes, you can be a catholic and a communist. I worked a lot among communist nations like Vietnam, Laos and China. Now these nations are opening up, but before in these nations, they are very much more leinient towards the catholic then the evangelicals. Although these countries have registered churches, they used to persecute the christians(evangelicals) much more than the Catholics. Later i would learn that the reason is because the Catholics is associated with France but the Christians were associated with the Americans. (The communist has a long history with America while indochina used to be colonised by france)

Therefore to answer your question, can you be a catholic and a communist? Yes, you can.

Hope this helps

Communism was brought down mostly from people being inspired by Pope John Paul II. That's why the communists did not like him and had some spying on him.

Judas Iscariot was hand selected by Jesus, but Judas betrayed Jesus. So it should not be surprising that there would still be some Judases in the Church today. Forget about Judas and stick with Peter.

Communists, especially Soviet Communists are Atheistic and have typically persecuted the Catholic Church and its believers.

Pope John Paul II's books mention several priests that died in prison in Poland.

The Soviet Union has also been implicated in the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II.

With love in Christ.

You can be a Catholic, or other religion, and be a Nazi, so I imagine anything is possible. Consider that one of the groups that promoted Russia going communist was the Jews, because of what the Czars were doing to them. They later learned what sticking their noses into the politics of humans can create.

If that's true then it just means that there are still Judases today just as there were in the time of Jesus.
