I had practically my whole left foot covered with that crap.
The dermotologist had me going in for treatments every week.
My wife (at the time) insisted that I get the treatments because she was grossed out.
Basically the dude charged me 200 bucks a visit to try to freeze the suckers off. I think you can buy the stuff at a good pharmacy.
He also suggested that i try light sandpaper, and putting vaseline in a sock and sleeping with it.
That stuff seemed to reduce but not eliminated the problem.

ok - this is going to sound a little way out there - but honestly...i worked for me...a naturopath told me - you can probably find it on the web too...get duct tape and put it on your foot (with no more than an inch around it...)so that's like a 2" by 2" square - plaster it on your plantars wart tight so the skin can't breath...it's good if you soak your foot in and 1 cap full of bleach and 4l of warm water first...dry it well and then put the duct tape on it...leave it there until it won't stay on any longer...depending on how often you shower and how much you sweat it might take 3 days - it might take 2 weeks...but when it's not sealed tight anymore just put more tape on (cleaning it as beforeand sealing it up right away!) - after 6 weeks - a long time, but it works...take the tape off...you'll notice after each tape reapply that it is shrinnking..but 6weeks and it'll be gone...be patient - i hope it works for you - i know it sounds far fetched...but the first time i had one i had it burned off with acid and i won't suggest that to anyone!!! ouch...this way is pretty painless!

I know this is a bit gross, but it worked for me. I had one on my foot and I got rid of it myself by using fingernail clippers and clipping out the center and then clipping the roots and putting idodine on it, which I don't know if they even sell anymore. It hurt of course, with the wart and when I did it, but he wart left and It never returned. I did it twice. It was gone in a month.
I had another one on the palm of my hand and did the same thing, only put macuricrome on it and it never came back. I did this one once. My neice just got one so sore she couldn't touch her foot. My sister took her to the doctor and they cut it and froze it both. They told her she would have to come back and do it again. My sister is going to do it herself.
I am not saying to do the same thing I did, as It would probably be better to go to the doctor as I am not a doctor. It worked for me, but not everything works the same for all people. I wouldn't want you to get an infection. If it is deep, the doctor may have to cut it out for you. They do have over the counter stuff that supposedly works too.
Here are a couple of websites about different ways to remove them: http://www.molewart.com/plantar_wart.htm

I had one in junior high, and let it go. It spread so bad that my whole ball of my foot from my toes and down the side had to be burned. It took several sessions before the Dr got it all. Forget what that one said about the nerves and all, your foot will recover, since you walk on it and use it all the time, it will rejuvenate and become normal. You couldn't even tell a few months after that anything was ever done to my foot.
