Ive done my two "free" check ups already and if I go again, I'd need to pay $50.

I am an Orthodontist and let me tell my protocol. I see my patients for retainer check twice and then tell them to call me if there is any problem. As others suggested, if you are faithful about wearing your retainers, if your retainers fit well and your teeth are straight, dont worry about seeing your Orthodontist. However, also keep in mind that, dont worry about $50. You probably paid couple of thousand $ for braces to get your teeth straightened. I assume that you dont want braces again. Why not pay $50 and make sure every thing is OK? Hope that helps. Thanks

If you are satisfied with the way your teeth look and your retainers are doing fine then you shouldn't need to go. He will just look at your teeth and retainers and tell you to keep up the good work...

I would only go if there is a problem.

i guess one last checkup by the orthodontist would be pretty nice...
the reason why i am saying that is rarely due to wrong use of retainer orthodontic treatment could relapse...so its better to get it checked by ur orthodontist just for ur satisfaction so that u know whether proper treatment has been done...best of luck

I am not sure you could call and ask if you need too but as long as your teeth haven't shifted and your retainer is not broke ,worn, or irritating your mouth probably not

nahh! You only know there's something wrong if your retainers don't fit. If they don't your teeth are shifting, then you need attention...

but if they still fit, then you're fine!
