Tap Water vs Bottled Water
Choosing between tap and bottled water is ultimately a personal decision. You may not want to base your decision only on the taste.

Bottled water is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water in the United States. That is the conclusion of "Bottled Water: Pure Drink or Pure Hype"- the Natural Resources Defense Council's new study on contaminants in bottled water. While most bottled water is okay, says NDRC attorney Eric Olson, some brands may present threats to vulnerable subpopulations because they contain microbial contaminants. According to the report, bottled water consumption has tripled in ten years, with sales reaching $4 billion annually. Yet, bottled water is required to meet standards that are different than those for tap water.

Bottled water quality is regulated by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while drinking water systems follow State and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Carbonated water is exempt from bottled water standards, says the report. Instead, it is regulated under general sanitation rules.

Yeah, it's the same as bottled water. The only difference is someone is filling water bottles from their sink instead of yours. The only difference in most bottled waters, is it comes from a different parts of the country. Tap water can use all the same claims as bottled, but that would require advertisement and drive the price up. Tap water has been filtered and treated as well. It even has fluoride in order to keep you teeth from falling out (Britons don't use fluoride, look at their teeth). Although different parts of the country has different elements in the water and even different plumbing which can affect taste, it's all the same. If you look at a water bottle it either says, spring, filtered/purified, or deionized. Spring means tap water supplied by a stream or underground source. Filtered means it is filtered again after it comes out of the tap (often causing in a loss of minerals), deionized water is completely stripped of any additives and has less chemicals than rain water (why it is used for ironing clothes). Hope this helps.

Not in the U.S.but when my son was growing his fist teeth the Dr. told me to give him tap water ,because all babies need fluoride. My sister lives in Canada and she says water is fine there.I still wouldn't drink it . Oh the Dr. also told me not to drink too much water bottle,he told me to drink filtered water from the big bottles like the ones that get delivered to your door or the ones that you put 2 dollars and you can fill it up every week.

many of the water I drink is filtered tap water and prefer that. not that there is extremely something incorrect with tap water, this is merely harsher and filtered has a softer, extra pleasant flavor. i don't believe of i have ever had bottled water.

It depends on where your tap water is coming from but basically - it shouldn't hurt you - it may not taste as good but water is water if it is pure....
