The main difference is that the XT is 8 MP and the XTi is 10 MP. The LCD monitor ont he XTi is a lot bigger, also.

Consider the Nikon D50 in your final decision. It's more related to the high end DSLR's and the Rebels are certainly DSLR's, but some consider them more closely related to the point and shoot cameras. They don't have a spot meter, for instance...

I see on here were there are a lot of people recommending you a Nikon D50 which is a great camera but for just a little more you can get a Nikon D70 while it is a little heavier it is where Nikon went back and put some of the stuff the left off the Nikon D50. Canon is a great Camera but the great thing about Nikon is that they make there lenses interchangeable. So if later you decided to upgrade or even purchase a Nikon film camera then you don't have to worry so much about buying new lenses. You will find that later lenses often cost more than the camera themselves. Go Nikon. When you go to buy make sure you go to someplace like www.shopzilla.com or another site to find the cheapest place. I bought mine at Ritz Camera because it was local but I paid a lot more. Good Luck

I recommend the Canon Rebel. I have the 6 megepixel version and love it. Depending on the size of the posters you want to print should help you determine how many pixels you need. I can print 24x36" posters with excellent focus and no pixelating.

You can get a new digital camera from http://linkachi.com/?r1 and all you have to do is enter in your zip code to see if they mail it to your area. My uncle got his camera from that site and it arrived at his house a few weeks later. You can choose between three different cameras and they are all free of charge.

XT: 8mp, 1.8" LCD
XTi: 10mp, 2.5" LCD, about $200 more.

XTi has newer technology, and has a self cleaning image sensor.
