I personally prefer the mini Dachshund but you must realize these dogs are a lot of work. Since they have such long bodies, you must pick they up and place them on the ground instead of just dropping them. They cannot jump out of a car because it could fracture there back, but all small breeds should be gently placed on the ground including Chihuaha.

i will go with the Miniature Dachshund over the Chihuahua. no real reason, just personal taste.

Miniature Dachshunds. I have had both. Chihuahuas wake you up almost every morning at around five.

I prefer Chihuahuas. I have 2 purebred Chihuahuas and a chi-wienie (chihuahua-mini dach mix) and the chihuahuas are much more calm and loyal. Chi's usually stick to one certain person unless you enforce multiple person interaction from the time their puppies, and while some people would prefer a dog that can run around your house during a party and not have to worry about the dog biting anyone, I like the fact that my dog will find me, sit on my lap, and try to bite anyone that touches me (to protect me.) Wouldn't trade her for the world.
