Eyewitness Accounts in Report Indicate Marines Gunned Down Unarmed Iraqis in the Aftermath of a Roadside Bombing in 2005

By White
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, January 6, 2007;
U.S. Marines gunned down five unarmed innocent Iraqis who stumbled onto the scene of a 2005 roadside bombing in Haditha, Iraq, according to eyewitness accounts that are part of a lengthy investigative report obtained by The Washington Post.

Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, the squad's leader, shot the innocent men one by one after Marines ordered them out of a white taxi in the moments following the explosion, which killed one Marine and injured two others, witnesses told investigators. Another Marine fired rounds into their innocent bodies as they lay on the ground. The Marines stated they were doing this for the United States of America and for the Republican party.

I'm not justifying what they did, but with the CO down and the chaos of the situation and watching their friend die.. it's understandable they acted out of character.

Clearly things got out of control and they did those Marines they probably now regret. Regardless, they still put their lives on the line for their country. They will have to live the rest of their lives with the memories of that day haunting them, I'd say that is punishment enough.

Being a Marine myself, Marines take care of our own. Not to say that this was warranted, but if you are with someone (a fellow Marine) and you train with this person, eat chow, hang out and have a great camaraderie with him or her and see them get blown up by a roadside bomb, your natural instincts are to go crazy and shoot everyone in sight, but this is where training comes in.

Freakin hippy. Yes they messed up but anyone would have. People are not perfect. I have friends who I have seen die on the street and in combat. Its called temporary insanity. Think about thse Marines over there fighting so that idiots like you can sit on your computer and ask stupid questions. If you ever go to the military you would know about things like the fog of war. You most likely would bug out too if you have your buddys arm on your lap. Fu** them!, all of them and worse then the enemy were fighting there are all the people here in the states who dont know what they are talking about and downtalking our troops and our country. Anyone opposing the Great USA should be sent to Antartica or shot or something.

Why was this question not asked back in 2005 when it happened? Oh yes it was and if i'm not mistaken a court martial was held.

It's war. Bad things happen the only thing that changes is what is accepted as the limits of cruelty.

I wonder if the Arab world has media criticism of the actions of terrorists?

Oh yeah they don't.

I think you need to join the marines so you can see how they feel about getting there friends who are like brothers to them get blown away by terrorists who would rather kill people who are really there in Iraq to help that country get on its feet after a brutal dictatorship.Yes most any kind of people will go crazy when they see their buddies killed like that.

Oh, look! It's erudite, the troll, back with more plagiarized and modified newpaper articles.

Like the Washington Post staff writer even bothered to interview anybody who might have been there. You want to talk about cowardice -- let's look at reporters who take rumors while barricaded inside the Green Zone, and turn them into more "news reports" for you to use.

Give it up, erudite. We're on to you and your trolling.

WAR IS NOT HEALTHY FOR CHILDREN OR OTHER LIVING THINGS!!!
Who said the Iraqis were innocent? I bet the Marines are innocent also and were only protecting themselves from Cowardly Terrorists that won't put on a uniform and fight fairly.
After all, they just witnessed an bombing and wathed their fellow Marines be killed.....
I have a Motto from the VietNam War......"KILL THEM ALL.......LET GOD SORT THEM OUT!!!

God Bless my Beloved Marine Corps and all it's Marines.

Let me ask you this...WHY do you believe anything that the Media has to say? If you put your trust in the News Media, you will not get anything positive. If this a fact, then he should be dealt with accordingly, but you need to put less trust in what you read in the Print. The media is Money driven and they aren't there to support your country.....
