If all U have is 1 it can be fixed. Chiropractor can help. Depending how old U R now, its possible U have ruptured or herniated disc & possible more than 1. Might if U have insurance get a MRI done. Do your best to avoid surgery, it makes things worse. Good Luck & I hope this helps.

A slipped disc can get better on its own, however it can also get worse. Depending on your age, and if there is any arthritis involved, full recovery is not going to happen. You will always have problems with your back. I suggest you go to a chiropractor and get some adjusting done and some heat treatments. I have the same condition, and it comes and goes depending what activities I do. Believe it or not drinking enough water helps lubricate inbetween the disc and helps alot. Always bend at your knees when lifting and you can even wear a supportive waist strapp when the pain is too unbearable. don't take too many medications for pain, your body will get used to them and they will not help at all. Rest your back by lying flat for a whole day if you have to. Lying flat and standing put the least strain on your back. Avoid sitting, it is the worst. At night place a pillow between your knees, it will relieve the pressure on your spine. Hope this helps Take Care

Discs don't really slip, so the name is a misnomer.

Discs can bulge though, for any number of reasons, and in doing so, press against the spinal cord and/or nerve roots, and that's what caused pain and weakness.

YOU desperately need a second opinion. Keep pushing this one, although after 12 years of this, there might not be much that can be done to relieve your pain.

As a physical therapist who treats this day in and day out, the cause is usually a bent over motion or prolonged sitting (flexion). Treatment generally involves modifying/eliminating the flexion for a few days, i.e. when you sit use a rolled towel behind your back. Also, laying on stomach, propping up on your elbows and progressing to prone pressup (similar to Cobra in yoga) repetitively will correct the disc issue. Getting a manipulation/adjustment can potentially rupture your disc

we all take our backs for granted, a slipped disc is like a piece of grissel, and slips out of (like a nut) and iff you go to an osteopath he can work it back in ,but eventually the nut type) loses the thread, and the disc slipps out again if it gets very bad you have an operation, they do this by laser treatment.

That's really bad ask that stupid doctor to tell you why you got it. I think you get a slip disc when you fell down and hurt your back. Maybe you had a severe fall when you were young or maybe you were pushed hard and fell on your back I am really sorry. Ask that damn idotic doctor afterall its about you. Ithink it can be treated so ask.
