STEP 1: Place the egg in a saucepan.
STEP 2: Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.
STEP 3: Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.
STEP 4: Reduce the heat to low.
STEP 5: Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
STEP 6: Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

To peel

Prepare a hard boiled egg and let it cool .
Crack the shell at each end by firmly tapping the egg onto a hard surface such as a counter. Do one end, and then the other.
Place the side of the egg on a counter and roll forward for one revolution with your palm firmly down on the top of the egg.

Submerge the egg in a bowl of warm water and slip the entire shell off in less than a second.

Alternate Methods
Slide a spoon in between the egg and the shell, and pop it out. This works rather fast, but it is tricky. Be careful not to damage the egg during the process, and the egg has a tendency to fly all over the place sometimes.
Put salt in the water before boiling. The salt stops the egg from leaking out if the egg cracks while boiling and adds flavor.
Boil the egg; when done, quickly dump the boiling water. Refill the pot with very cold water from the tap; the egg will contract and the shell will peel off without ripping the egg white. Be careful to do this ONLY if your pot can withstand the rapid temperature change! A better method is to use a ladle or small strainer to remove the eggs to a bowl of ice water.
Put a tbsp of vinegar in the water to help with the peeling

Want a soft boiled egg?? Place the egg gently in rapidly boiling water which has 1 tsp vinegar added (this helps remove the shell easily) Boil for 4 minutes. Remove and enjoy.

Want a hard boiled egg? Place the egg into rapidly boiling water, cover, allow to boil for 4 minutes and then turn off. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Cool and remove shell.

It usually takes about 5-6 minutes and I don't add anything to the water.

O..the easiest way to remove the shell when it's done is you get a bowl of cold water..and remove the shell while the egg is in the water. It comes off just like that.

It is not recommended to soft boil eggs because of the threat of salmonella. Other wise to hard cook eggs the easiest way is to make sure your eggs are covered with at least an inch of water above them. Bring to a boil. remove from heat and cover for 18 minutes. Cool down immediately in cold water. To remove the shells I find it best to crack the shells and then roll them between my hands and then peel under running cold water.

the timing depends on how hard you want it....so anywhere from 2 min. for very a soft-boiled egg, to 10 min. for hard boiled. If you're coloring eggs, add a bit of baking soda to the water, as that makes for better coloring. The best tip of peeling hard boiled eggs is to run cold water over the eggs as soon as they are done, and crack and peel immediately. The longer the shell stays on, the harder it peels. Also, you want to work quickly to use the egg to slice, chop or whatever. Makes for less of the green discoloration around the yolk if you use the eggs immediately.

Start the eggs in a pot of cold water with one teaspoon of salt. Bring the water to a hard boil for about 5 minutes. Cover the pot and take it off the heat and let the eggs sit in the hot water about 15 minutes. To help the shell come off more easily, remove the eggs from the pot and place them in ice water until they're cool. To peel, give the egg a light tap and peel the shell off.

I put the eggs in the pot and then cover them with cold water. Turn the heat up to high and let in come to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and cover the pot. Let eggs sit for 10 minutes. Drain off water and shake eggs in the pot to crack the shells. Run them under COLD water a few times to cool them down and stop the cooking. Let them sit for a few minutes and then peel. I always have perfect hard boiled eggs...good luck!!

I usually boil 3 for 20 min, the more eggs the more time. Tap your egg after it cools under cold water for a few minutes, and they should become easy to peel.
