First, learn how to breathe correctly! Most people either breathe with shallow breaths, or when they TRY to relax or meditate, take too deep breaths. Find a quiet, comfortable spot (later you'll be able to do this anywhere), imagine a place that's pleasant and serene, but not arousing (don't imagine what Happy Gilmore does while golfing!).
Then, just focus on your abdomen (use your hands on it if necessary), and breath in and out SLOWLY, not too deeply. Next, find a word (some call it a "mantra") that helps you relax (like "relax"!) and repeat it aloud or to yourself, in time with your exhale.
As stray thought enter (which they will), gently push them away and go back to the word and focus on breathing. Once you've mastered this, you can develop more experienced meditative techniques, such as focusing on an image (real or imagined), a sound or contemplating a thing. You might be able to enter a "trance"-like state or use self-hypnosis to augment your experience!
Good luck with it!

Meditation and prayer are simply going to a quiet place where you can be alone with the Lord. All you are doing is talking to Him, and feeling everything you are saying to Him in your heart. The more you do this, and set as side a special time each day for just you and the Lord, the easier and more comfortable you will be doing it. This is a quite time between you and the Lord. Embrace this time with Him. It's so beautiful and rewarding. God bless you.

I quite doubt that there is in uncomplicated terms one "genuine" thank you to meditate and attain nirvana, yet right here is what i've got heard. take a seat along with your back promptly interior the lotus place (or "Indian-type," whichever term you're familiar with) the two on the bare floor/floor, or on a cushion. some choose finished silence while they meditate. Others bypass outdoors the place they're uncovered to the sounds of nature. Others nevertheless hear to track (frequently gongs or different "meditative" contraptions). There extremely isn't any top or incorrect answer. Meditate for as long as you could. Being a beginner, your ideas will start to stray, or you will start to lose concentration. it is high quality and comprehensible. Like something, it takes prepare. you're no longer likely to be a grasp the 1st time (or perhaps the 1st quite a few circumstances) around. There are a great form of issues you could meditate on, yet once you're looking specifically to realize nirvana, i could propose meditating on the impermanence of existence, specializing in merely being, something which will help rid your ideas/spirit/physique of attachment. while you're curious and could want to renowned extra, I quite propose you bypass to a temple. There are distinctive "sects" of Buddhism, and each temple will, little doubt, be distinctive. seek around, and locate one that suits you superb. If no longer something "clicks," you will nevertheless have the skill to earnings something from whichever temples are on your section. i won't be in a position to offer you specifics, as i've got yet to bypass to a temple myself, yet Buddhism is a reasonably lax faith. you isn't grew to become away because of the fact of your race, gender, faith, etc., yet you're able to nevertheless be respectful. seem outdoors the temple front (or interior even, in the event that they have a foyer of varieties). they might have vacationing hours published, so which you will no longer intervene throughout a time of mediation, etc. desire this helps. stable success!

Find a quiet place. Sit there and close your eyes and concentrate on something like the cross or the sound of AUM. Do it for ten or fifteen minutes in the beginning then increase the time. One important thing is that you do it a regular time without skipping a day.

You may do well in a group setting. Look in the paper -- there are classes taught by your local Buddhist center. Usually they'll ask for a donation of about $5.
