You didn't say how old your dog is. I would strongly suggest obedience classes. Check with your local SPCA/Petsmart/Petco. Your dog needs to understand that YOU are the alpha dog, not the other way 'round. Consistency is key here. Once you complete the training, you have to continue those lessons at home.
Dachshunds are bred for digging out badgers, moles and gophers. That's why they dig and chase small furry animals. It's what they're made to do. You cannot change nature. It's always a good idea to research the breed you want ahead of time. Then you know what you're getting into.
Good Luck!

Mini Dachshunds can sure be obstinate can't they? I have a 10 month old one. She's a gem. The best dog I've ever had, but sometimes it seems like there is no stopping her from doing something. She used to have the same habit the toy/blanket maneuver. The only think I found that made her stop doing it is by being really firm. I'd take the toy out of the blanket and give it to her. When she went to put it back in the blanket I'd grab it and tell her "NO!" sternly. When that didn't work I'd say no sternly and then put her on the floor and ignore her. She responded better to that. It almost seems like the only time she listens is when I guilt her and act extremely disappointed in her. Try the shame.

I have a Mini Dachshund she also likes to bark at things,I have been working with her when she barks inappropriate I get her attention make her sit and tell her no once she follows command we get a treat and move on. I think the breed likes to bark. I socialize my dog at the park with other dogs/people and that seems that helps her not bark so much + daily exercise helps. Got to love them.

Nothing is the matter with her. Doxies are often quite barky (and tend to be diggers too), it's genetic. Not getting along with the neighbors cat is natural too. Just keep your dog and the neighbors cat away from each other and there won't be any problems.

Well, mini dachshunds are generally very hyper dogs. they can be mean and usually there is not any cure for it. my suggestion would be to take her to an obediance trainer.

I dont think there is anything wrong with her. You need to take her to training classes. go somewhere like petsmart or petco and put her in the classes there or get a trainer.

omg. i have a dachshund too! and yeah its barks at stupid things. but if you take it to obedience classes it still won't work. all dachshunds are born that way. so i don't think you can change it.

Your dog isn't "bad" you are a bad trainer.... the only thing that is the matter with her is poor training. I suggest you learn all you can about dog training... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_training
