It's not only possible, its probable. In view of the aging Russian early warning systems, a nuclear war could happen at any time. You hear of all the talk about Iran and terrorists getting ahold of A nuke. Little is heard about the two bulls in the glass shop.

The arsenals of the US and Russia are the scary scenarios when you're talking nuclear war. Not so much the US causing it, but mainly from an accidental launch by the Russians thinking that NATO or the US launched against them. It nearly happened in 1995, when the Russian 'suitcase' with the launch codes was activated for the first time in history....and this was in the POST-Cold War!!!

Not Likely, The Countries that have Nuclear capabilities know what a full scale attack would bring to everyone. The Countries that have this capability strive to keep it as a peaceful use of energy that is a great renewable source. However in the wrong hands, it could prove fatal. The UN is keeping a close eye on the third world countries that now have it. Nuke power can be taken out with precision attacks. Its only as good as the people who use it and use it wisely.

If Iran is allowed to build a nuclear arsenal then nuclear war is a near-certainty. The US has a choice right now between conventional war with Iran now, or nuclear war with Iran later. Frighteningly, the new congress appears to be inclined to unknowingly choose nuclear war later.

I would put the nuclear clock at 1 minute to midnight, the closest the world has ever been to nuclear war.

With so many nations having, or now able to obtain nuclear weapons, the chances of a nuclear war is EXCELLENT.

If India and Afghanistan get into it, damn high. That's just where it will begin. It will spread from there.
If Iran get nukes, all hell will break out.
If North Korea loses it and launches on Japan, everybody is dead!
