Matthew 5:11-12
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Let them have there way with me and mine.. I am in good company.. Jim

Christians are the HUGE religious majority in this country, so you might say they have the "home court" advantage over gays! Even though at LEAST 10% of the U.S. population is estimated to be gay, many gays are afraid to come out, since they KNOW they'll probably be criticized, shunned, harassed, and possibly assaulted or even killed (like that guy who was dragged to death behind a truck by some "christians"). Gays and other minorities NEED laws to protect them, but as someone pointed out, if a christian WERE attacked, based solely on his/her religion, then I've no doubt the courts would JUMP at calling it a "hate crime"!
Stop complaining! Has anyone dragged YOU behind a truck for being xtian? You've got the advantage...enjoy it! Maybe if xtians didn't keep trying to convert everyone and commit hate crimes themselves (that is, actually FOLLOW the teachings of Jesus!), they wouldn't be so disliked by others!

Who hates Christians? I don't even know any Christians. I know a few church people, is that who you mean?
Mostly it's the church people who are bigots to begin with. So if other bigots come along and hate the original bigots, I doubt if there's a law that covers that. Why do you ask?

Oh you Xians with your persecution complex are almost cute, if delusional.
Gays have the "hate crime" law to protect them from Fundie Xians. You know, the kind who wear white sheets and burn crosses on lawns? The kind who think they are being oppressed somehow by gays and need to "Defend themselves" against them by beating the **** out of innocent people.
You're in the majority. You're not the one being persecuted. Get over it and stop being a bigot.

There's a difference between hating a group and assaulting/killing members of a group.
But, if a Christian were assaulted or killed and it was proven to be because of his/her faith, that would be considered a hate crime - just as it would be if a gay person were assaulted/killed because of his/her homosexuality. The same law would protect a Christian.

Actually, umm, if I were to murder you? That would be illegal. And I would go to jail. And if I did it to intimidate Christians, it would indeed be a hate crime under US law.

Because the murder of Christians hasn't really been equal to the murder of gays since the days of the Coliseum. You know, Christians and Roman lions.
