It's not only possible, its probable. In view of the aging Russian early warning systems, a nuclear war could happen at any time. You hear of all the talk about Iran and terrorists getting ahold of A nuke or the threat from NorKor. Little is heard about the two bulls in the glass shop.
The arsenals of the US and Russia are the scary scenarios when you're talking nuclear war. Not so much the US causing it, but mainly from an accidental launch by the Russians thinking that NATO or the US launched against them. It nearly happened in 1995, when the Russian 'suitcase' with the launch codes was activated for the first time in history....and this was in the POST-Cold War!!!

Don't sweat it mate. I can remember the 80's when everyone thought the button was going to be pushed on all-out-nuclear-war 'any day now'. There was a real piss-pot of tension in the air all the time between USA, USSR and all the players caught between the two. Nowadays, although there is tension, the heat is coming from smaller pockets of fanatical terrorists and tin-pot dictators who don't have the clout (or the guts) to devastate the earth in another World War. Having said that, if anyone needs some close monitoring now it needs to be George Bush & Co. That mad dog got the taste for blood in Iraq and he won't settle till he get's more. Definately a cause for concern.

If it does I will stand up for my country and my country only. I would only take orders from Commanding officers of the British Army and no other as thats what i would of signed up to do.
I do believe it will happen but between who is the real question. Sure Iran, North Korea and Syria will all be on the same side and with a combined total military size of over 2million trained troops and 5million+ reserves anyone thinking the US could end the war in a matter of months is completely wrong. The use of nuclear bombs is almost non existant because the main threats have just about got to the level the US was at in 1945 and would have to use a stratigic bomber to drop a huge bomb on any western city which is absolutly impossible as they would be blown out of the sky before they left there own airspace so it would be a conventional war. North Korea are not terrorists and have a highly trained army with huge numbers whilst Iran and Syria may fund terrorism but they would start by using there proffesional soldiers ( as iraq did at the start ) the only thing being Iran has watched and learned from the US invasion and will of no doubt adapted and increased it military arsenal.
Will China and Russia get involved? I think they will but on opposite sides because as america wants oil so will China which they would obviously attemp to get from Russia as they share a border and any link would be easily connected if they were to win. It is a big IF because although the Russians have a very poor army in terms of quality like there Chinese counterparts they are very experienced in wars and will have scientist developing new weapons every day in secret.
I do believe the to scienarios above will happen seperatly during the same time period and be a conventional war on a much more " Special Forces " style of offense, with some long engagements happening from now and again as the movement of troops becomes more difficult for both sides.
After the first stage the two wars will cross into one major war due to China helping the North Koreans against the Americans and the EU and Britain helping against the Russians in return for cheaper oil ( we Brits arnt stupid and russia has loads of oil and gas reserves and finds new ones all the time ). The Middle East will fight against the US who will eventually become the only force fighting in the region along side Isreal because the British will concentrate on more important matters against the Chinese attack on Russia but will leave a few regiments and SAS SBS units in the area to aid the American front. There will also be help from the Austrailans and a few European countries. India may get involved later in the conflict and this is where another threat of nuclear war would become visable as with pakistan and India possesing nukes and being very unpredictable it would be the biggest worryof and WW3.
The end of the war will come as North Korea, Iran and the rest of the middle east weakens and loses funding from a weakening Chinese army who are fighting 2 major fronts against the 3 most powerful armys on earth and there situation becomes desperate. This would again be a time for concern in the use of Nuclear weapons, mainly from China but hopefully there capablities of ICBM launch or any other form are launching nukes will of been destroyed.
It will cause a huge econimic disator for the enemy although the situation will be only slightly better for the allies. Death tolls will be in the hundreds of millions and terrorists will continue to attemp small uprising which would have to be quashed will extreme force in order to send a message that the west and its allies no longer takes any sh!t from them.
Hopefully this can be avoided but lets face it its almost a certainty
Sorry about the length, got carried away lol

Bombing poorer places won't cause ww3, they'll just be crushed by the horrible millatary arm of the US. The US government spends nearly $500billion on milatary which is half of what the whole world spends! The prevous world wars have been caused between Europe and made world wars because europe owned most of the world. Europe is quite peaceful now and much of it joined together by the EU. I can't see a war immerging from here.
Possible ww3 i think would be between Europe and the US. If things changed a lot. With immirging super powers like China and India. I could see another "cold war" between China and US happening quite easily, which could turn to ww3.
If ww3 happens then it could turn into a nuclear war and kill 1billion people, and lead to the collapse of the west, so lets hope it doesn't happen.

The President of Iran has told his own people that he will start what religious zealots call "the revelation" (Armageddon) if he gets hold of nuclear weapons.
But with Israel threatening Iran and increased US troops entering the region hopefully Iran's nuclear programme can be stopped.
Probably the biggest threat to peace however is North Korea and who knows what will happen with them!

Terrorism is WW3....Somewhat different than WW1 or WW2...since Terrorists are cowardly and do not belong to an organized militia or even country, the war must be fought differently.
Iran is a definate threat....such an unstable country as that should not have anything more volitle than slingshots.
Korea is another worrisome place.....these countries have the potential of starting true WORLD WAR or World Destruction...They need to be watched and eventually stopped.
We need more George Bushs to police the trouble spots of the world

Not to mention NORAD(now part of Homeland security/Northcom) was recently doing a little nuclear simulation. This after it was decided that NORAD should move out of the Cheyenne mountain-the reason stated by the military being that we face less danger with the end of the cold war. By the way, millions were spent upgrading the conclave in Cheyenne Mtn just before the announcement that NORAD would move to peterson AF base.
I knew something was up when Homeland Security recommended that we put plastic & duct tape on our doors and windows. Reminds me of the "duck & cover" technique taught in during the cold war. Both equally ridiculous.

whoa dont start building a bomb shelter yet, every one in their right mind knows america probably wont allow iran to have a nuclear bomb, and isreal DEFINITELY wont. but war with iran would go something like this.
: Israel bombd irans nuke places
iran invades iraq, usa starts a bombing campaign with the aid of several sunni countries. within 2 weeks irans navy, airforce, and much of its army lies in ruins.
the allies invade iran. the iranian army surrenders within a week and then the country results into chaos. terrorist attacks are rampant and within a year or so a new govt is established.

Theres no starting pistol as to when a war begins or indeed tape when it ends.
Diferent countries recognise different start dates to ww2.
In my opinion ww3 has already began.
There is no slowdown in military activity.Indeed USA ,Israel,North Korea and Iran are upping the ante, with Russia and china eyeing developments carefully.
Many islamic fundamentalist countries and despotic communist regimes have no intention of giving up their guns without a fight.
USA recognises the dangers and of arab ransoming of oil and the Chinese need for oil.
As time goes on the situation will deteriorate as the demand for resources increases.
Signs of unrest in England and france are showing as the strains of multiculturalism take effect.Muslims demands the world subscribe to Islam and Shariah law and the world makes clear that it will not.
Time to back your horse.
Im with Uncle Sam and the western alliance. If I die then its for the right reasons.
