Oh i have a good one while working in a cafe i was doing deviled eggs for a wedding of 100. Trying to plan ahead i boiled my case of eggs which for those not in the foodservice industry is 15 dozen. I had left to go set up leaving the eggs to boil. I got caught up setting up until i heard what seemed like firecrackers going off. I rushed to the kitchen and had eggs thrown all over my hood, floor. flattop burners everything. Was my BIGGEST mistake ever.... 2 hours later i had most of it cleaned up... That daister granted me new sleep but a lesson well learned.

I was trying to make a cheesecake once when I was a teenager. It was my first time and I'm not sure how I screwed it up. I think I was supposed to bake the cookie crust, put the cheesecake mixture on top and then refrigerate it. Instead I just baked the whole thing.
It wouldn't be that bad if I made a bad cake and nobody else knew about it but my mom invited her friend and husband to come over to try the cake while I was in the process of making it.
When it was time to serve the cake I was embarrassed. It was clearly not the way it should be and I couldn't NOT serve it because I felt that the cake was why they came over. The cookie crust was not cooked (it was gooey) and the cheesecake mixture was like glue.
Oh well.

When my husband and I were having our first real breakfast in our first real apartment I wanted to make him something really special. My mom had made what she called Will Rogers eggs when I was a kid. She would take a skillet with butter in it and put it on to heat and then take a piece of bread with a hole torn out of the middle and place it in the skillet. She would then crack an egg into that hole. Salt and pepper, flip and let cook on other side. Done. Simple huh? I was so excited that I didn't notice that in my first attempt at the eggs I grabbed the ground cinnamon instead. We were on a very tight budget so I couldn't throw it away, so I went ahead and cooked it. Next try was a success. When I called him to the table I assumed that I had the cinnamon disaster. WRONG. Bless his heart, he didn't say a word until I confessed what I had done after the meal was over. We still laugh about it 21 years later.

When I was a kid my dad used to use all sorts of left overs. The most disgusting I ever saw him eat was the last of the chicken soup and tomato sauce. It was really gross looking and smelling. Thank god most of my cooking has been at least decent. Nothing was ever so terrible you couldn't eat it.

this Christmas I made marshmallow peanut butter squares
- I guess the peanut butter was rancid (I don't know how I didn't notice before) but I made the squares up and cut them up for everybody
- I am glad only my Dad had one at first but he went on and on about how bad it was and how I was trying to poison him (but no thanks for cooking an entire turkey dinner by myself!)
- it was very embarrassing
