How many partners is acceptable to society for a woman to have had? Is the number different from that of a male?

I see all of this stuff on television that seems to imply that nowadays it isn't uncommon for people in my age group to have sex with every person they date. I just wonder if that is a misconception, or if it really is acceptable to have that many partners as long as you are "safe" about your methods.

What are your thoughts?

The sexual revolution was over in the 1960s! Don't you high school students take some kind of human sexuality course? Nowadays things are different!

Modern trends, it would seem, regarding 'partnerships' are actually shunning all previous societal moral codes-- even the ones of the sexual revolution. (Marriage, by the way, is a joke.) But you did not mention which society you belong to.

You also did not claim which age group you belong to, so I apologize for my assumption that you are a high school student and may well be in the learning stage of life!

I hope you are not concluding that what you see on television is the way real people should morally behave. All television shows 'are' (coincidentally) misconceived entertainment for the mindless masses.

My dear, women can have as many sex partners as they like but I have a question???? Do you really want to have sex with each guy you meet and date instead of with a man who is special and cares about you, etc. ( You may not have met this person yet.) Please also there are many people out there in the world who do not know they are HIV Positive or are a carrier of an STD...as well as some that do know they have HIV or STDs but will not tell you. Make sure you practice safe sex and this means using a condom for the guy. You can also get HIV via oral sex. Some men will ***** and moan about wearing a condom or will refuse wear oneor say they do not have one with them. These people are not worth your time. You are too good for them. These guys you need to stay away from. HIV is a terrible disease to have and AIDS is a horrible way to have to live and eventually die. I have had friends with HIV who eventually died of AIDS and complications. We have no cure yet!!!
My answer to you is why do you feel the need to have sex with each person you go out with??? What internal need are you trying to fulfill??? Are you needing to feel loved, need cuddling, or simply that you have a friend , etc??? Do not fall for every guy that comes along. There is someone special out there for you...just you..who will care and love you and will not mind wearing a condom and understands why. If you have had sex with quite a few, you need to get tested for HIV as well as other venereal diseases you would not necessarily know were given to you. God Bless You . Please be very careful and use discretion if you are still going to have sex. Do not fall into the old pattern. Every woman does not have sex with every date or guy they click with and if they say they do I hope they practice safe sex.

What's socially acceptable and what you should do are two different things.

It's socially acceptable to have anal sex with multiple partners and discuss it openly in public, there's even a simple word for it.

Yes, the number for men is higher than for women, for some reason this is perceived as appropriate. Men are seed spreaders.

You should only have sex with partners that you want to have children with.

I think that in this day and age people are more promiscuous than when I was in the dating game. There are such terms as "friends with benefits". Society seems to be more accepting of sex before marriage. Hence the number of kids having kids and the number of babies born out of wed lock. I think that socially we tend to be more accepting of men playing the field than women. If a man does it, he is macho. If a woman does it, she is a tramp. My 2 cents.

I think that television can cause alot of problems to people. I think having sex with different people, well its not about what is right or what is wrong but how does each individual person think about this. I think its about self respect more than anything else.

For a woman to have one partner she is considered a Slu* by some .
A man can have all the partners they want and they are not badly labeled.
Even if you do use safe sex and still have several partners you will still be labeled a slu*..
My thoughts are men are slu*s also.

What you watch on the TV is not necessarily the modern trend but a trend in the writer's own mind. I don't think that women are as promiscuous as they are shown on the TV show Sex in the city or whatever the name of the show is.
