I forgot to mention that my mother used to own the great great grandmother, and the mothe before. All together someone in my fmily has owned 11 Generations of these cats, starting with my aunt in the early 1960s

Since I received my first cat from the lineage, I have allowed one female from each generation to have litter and then fix her (except this year when my cat got out and got pregnant before I could fix her after her first litter.) I am VERY picky about who I give the kitties to because they mean so much to me because they are part of my family history (the lineage being in my family is older than me). SO the question about the unwanted kitties isn't going to happen. In fact on more occassions than I ccan think of I have refused to let my kitties go with someone because I didn't think they would take care of them the way I wanted them cared for.

I've never heard of feline birth control. Your best bet is probably just to keep her inside and away from un-fixed males.

Great tradition you have going there, by the way. :)

You might be waiting a very long time for the older generation to pass, my last two cats died at 24 and 19, most before that between 17-19 years old. Meaning your youngest cat might be too old to reproduce when the older ones die anyway. 7 cats is more then enough for anyone. I am unaware of any other form of birth control, but your vet would know, ask him/her. I understand the desire to keep the lineage especially because it is so long in your family but...

I dont think that there is any type of birth control for cats but you could watch the cat and she when she comes into heat and them make sure that you keep her away from all males cats. Cats dont stay in heat long so you should be ok with keeping her in one room by herself or with another female for are few days to a week. Hope this helps

Spay them all -- no sense in "keeping the generations", that's insane. With so many cats in this world, you want to bring more in? Do what's best and spay and neuter these cats. Downsizing is good and 2-3 is better than 7. Please, fix these cats. You can find free cats around every corner of the neighborhood, no need for more.

this site will talk about what can be done.

""There are two forms of medical contraception in cats; tablets and injections. Both are prescription medicines and their use should be discussed with your veterinary surgeon at a consultation which should be undertaken before six months of age. No cat contraceptive is 100% effective and should be seen as a short term action, not a long term solution.""

I have never heard of birth control for cats unless it's permanent. You have to keep the cat inside away from males.

No optimal age and specific get her spayed now. She is at severe risk for determining to purchase pyometra (an infection of the uterus) which could kill her or extra services to cancers the longer you wait. The kitten might desire to be neutered or he will breed together with his mom. He might desire to have been neutered by technique of three-4 months previous. he will start up spraying and breeding his mom at 7 months previous. Take the two certainly one of them in now and get them carried out.

I would have to say just get all of them fixed. It can't be cheap to feed them all plus litter has to be costing you alot also. Otherwise- get the male kitten fixed and leave females unfixed!
