maybe you shouldn't have made the decision to live together if you weren't sure that you loved him.
if you like to give up on things that easily, then tell him exactly what you typed in your question, but replace "alone" with "free", since you apparently don't want to be alone.

You have to try to put your feelings into words as nicely as possible. Just tell him the truth bc you dont want to be with someone you dont love when you could be with someone you do. I know its hard, but you just have to be honest. =)
