Hi John...consider Nature's Miracle Just For Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

We've tested nearly all enzyme neutralizers available in the marketplace for our exotic cats which have stronger urine than domestic cats and found that Nature's Miracle Just for Cats has always worked the best.
To locate the urine odours consider a black light which illuminates the urine. Even old urine stains will show up as urine contains phophors which glow.

First of all get your male cat neutered and for a good amount of time after that (perhaps 2-3 months) isolate him in a relatively "cloth-free room", Cloth being where the "spray" sticks and cats tend to spray the most, furniture, carpets, laundry baskets. Then clean your house really, really well with a pet stain and odor remover like Fabreeze or use a vinegar and water solution (though this isn't quite as effective). Keeping your house clean generally will help too, because even though cats don't necessarily like the way their urine smells, it smells somewhat "Normal" to them and they will try to cover up "abnormal" (to them) smells, like dirty laundry or new carpet smells. If you have persist spraying with a female cat, it maybe be ill, get that checked out by your vet.

The simplest and cheapest is white vinegar. It neutralizes the odor for the most part. To find it, follow your nose, check furniture, your laundry especially if you leave it in a basket on like me on the floor at times. :-) Do it occassionally and step outside to clear your nose since we all become used to smells after awhile. After you locate the source, then use the vinegar a half and half mixture with water should work. Or you have a good selection of pet odor removal products at the supermarket.

They now make a wonderful product called Urine Gone. It breaks down the enzymes in the urine and takes away the odor and the stain associated with the urine spot. This can be used on about any surface that may have come in contact with cat urine. You may also want to look into using Scoop Away Multi-Cat formula scoopable cat litter. It works very well with keeping the used litter smell very minimal. You could also get a timed release automatic air-freshener with dispenser..AirWick makes a good one. Oust is also a good spray to use occasionally if needed.

two ways of getting rid of cat odor are if your cats a male and he hasn't been neutered then he lets off a sent to attract females until it builds up and up and really smell and the only other thing i can suggest is to use 'oust' that smell eliminator.

Unfortunately, you need to crawl around on youir hands & knees until you find the source- otherwise cats will continue to use the same spot. Water & vinegar usually will kill the smell.
