Well if you're a good singer than it shouldn't be a problem. If your entire class has to do the same, then you really shouldn't worry. Most of the time, people are too nervous to pay attention. They are too busy thinking about their turn. Just go up there and give it your best. If I can give you a tip, I would go first if I was you, no one is usally paying attention and if you do really bad, they can't criticize you as much since you went first.

Good Luck!

Well, first of all, you should attack the problem: Why are you shy?

Once you have figured this out, you can go on to solve it.

Are you shy because you are self-conscious of how your voice sounds? Are you shy because you are self-conscious of having the entire class look at you during your performance? Are you shy because you are worried that your classmates will put you down because of your performance.

For the first question, you could ask your parents to get you some singing lessons to boost your self-esteem. But this would be slightly too expensive for one presentation. So, just practice singing by yourself in your room, in the shower, whatever. Don't worry too much about how you sound - just SING! Once you learn to let it all out, you no longer start caring so much about how you sound - you just want to give it your all because it is so much fun. And the truth is, the more 'you' you put into your singing, the better it gets even if you don't have a naturally good voice! Spending a night with your friends just doing karaoke could also help you conquer this problem, if it is a problem for you.

As for the problem of your classmates view of your performance just remember that when you are performing just for your class alone, no one in your classroom is looking for faults in you. How do I know this? Well, when someone else is doing a presentation are YOU looking for faults? No.

Also, if you are trying to make fun of someone but they are laughing along with you at their own mistakes, do you still keep making fun of them? Not really. Once someone laughs with you at their mistakes, efforts to put them down fail. So, if you are worried that your classmates will put you down for your performance, laugh along at your mistakes, if you make any.

None of us are perfect so you can't expect perfection from yourself. Just have fun during your performance. If you love it chances are so will your teacher and your class!

What i did is i started singing outside of class and helping other friends sing with me and after a while i got so used to singing with one or two of my friends that when I had to sing by myself in front of the whole class i just pretend i was doing it to show my friends and it really helped so much. Completly changed me. We have to sing in front of the whole class really often but after a while its not so nerve racking once you get used to it.
