Stray cats and shelter cats often have the Calici virus, which is similar to a bad cold in a human. It is pretty much a snotty nose, watery or pus like drainage from eyes with congesition. It is in the herpes family but not contagious to humans, so when they have this "cold", it can lead to gum disease, take kitty to vet to be sure. Sometimes they must yank teeth. Now this is contagious to other cats and once a cat has this, he/she has it for life and is a carrier. They can have "flare ups" from time to time especially is stressed out.

yes you cat can loose its teeth then can't eat. Take to vet first and do what is recommended. Put cat on dry food only. On more can food. Brush your cats teeth with a baby tooth brush without toothpaste. There are some toothpaste made for animals only. Do not use human toothpaste is is harmful.

It might be. Inflammation of the gums, particularly, can be a sign of dental infection--and that can lead to serious problems--and even be fatal.
The good news is that prompt treatment can solve the problem--but you need to take your cat to the veternarian--in a day or two--but don't put it off longer.

Yes it is serious have a vet check her right away she must be in pain. Until you get her to a vet give her wet food only and lots of fluid. She may need to have her teeth cleaned, I know it sounds goofy, but they get mouth infections just like us. Good luck

Not sure if it's serious but probably advisable to take your cat to the vets. Has your cat been chewing on something unusual?

It could be. Our cat died of SCC cancer of the mouth and had a tumour come up in the side of his mouth. He had trouble eating and drinking- so any problems associated with mouths should be checked out. SCC in cats and mouths is very common so please err on the side of caution.
