As a mother of 6 yr. old twin girls, and an owner of an APBT I have to say," I love them." I have owned 3 in my lifetime and each has redefined my love for the breed. I think it is a deep and disconcerting plaque of blame that is placed on the breed through the irresponsibleness of people who have owned them. I am not in any way condoning the dogs out there who have attacked with or without provocation, however, I do place 100% of the blame on the people who treat some of these dogs with the complete and utter disregard and ignorance that prevails. APBT are one of many breeds that have a bad reputation, and by far the good ones outweigh the bad. I know that there are people who would rather kill them all off as a means of protecting their loved ones, but the truth is plain and simple....genocide is never the answer. If it's not the APBT, the Doberman, The Chow, The Rottweiler, or whatever other breed falls under BSL it will become another breed as soon as these breeds are killed off. What then becomes of dogs as whole......we'll no longer have loving companions who protect us, love us, rely on us, and provide some of us with the unsurpassed emotions of sheer joy. I realize some of you will reply to this posting with snide remarks of how I shouldn't have an APBT around my daughters, or that I am an irresponsible mother....go ahead say what you want, but at the end of the day know this.....I am still going to have my dog, he will still be around my daughters, I will still be happy about it, you will have upset yourself about something and someone yuou have no control over, and lastly you will look and prove to everyone reading this post that you are ignorant and incapable of educating yourself about the breed. Furthermore you will show that you rely on the media to come up with your opinions rather than be a free thinker who is capable of learning and growing. I am confident that my dog is going to protect me, my daughters, and my household because I am even more confident that I am providing him with the training and love he needs.

I'm a pitbull lover here. I know how wonderful these dogs can be with proper training and the right owners.

However, I also am aware that a lot of stupid, cruel, criminal types get these dogs and treat them badly, breed them badly, and that is what leads to bad actions of the dogs.

I've been around enough pitbulls to know that most of them actually are good dogs, and can also excel at therapy work and other jobs.

Well, some I like and others I don't. They are just like people. Some are really sweet natured and others are very nasty tempered. They have a really bad reputation for turning on their owners. I do think they should be kept in close supervision, especially with the children and elderly. If the pit is an outside dog, you should be sure to have it inside a secure fenced yard or on a very secure chain. I also don't believe that any dog should be used for fighting like a lot of people do. This encourages the animal to be aggressive and violent and is just inhumane.

I don't own any, and they aren't my personal breed of choice, but I like them all the same. Have seen many great PB pets over the years. Sad that they are getting such a bad name due to crap owners.

I don't own any. I doubt that I ever will, however, I still like them. Every one that have met, have been very nice. I have heard of mean ones, but I have also heard of mean poodles, doxie's, we sties, and Jr terriers.

There is no bad breeds, just ignorant owners.

Yes and No. I love dogs, so yes, but pitbulls are very aggressive. If you are looking for a dog that is a little mor trainable, I would get a pincher,or a doberman ( it may be a bad idea so don't fully take my advice)

I love pitbulls, they are wonderful sweet animals and are misjudged. Judge not lest ye be judged accordingly. Is putting them down really the answer?

i like pitbulls as much as i like any dog that is well trained, socialized and friendly. and i will tell you that i have seen far many more pits that fit this description than chihuahua, yorkies, sharpei's and chows.

i have 2 of them and they are great dogs with the proper training. I personally like them because they are great guard dogs when i am home alone. They watch the house very good and their bark scares people off. but they are very friendly.!
