Reading articles by people against Hovind does not necessarily reveal the truth. Many pro-evolutionists are upset with him for exposing another, more logical explanation for how this world, the complex universe, and humans came to be. They therefore find things to give him a bad name and sometimes put words into his mouth. The most reliable source you can get for his beliefs is himself. If you want to hear what he really believes then listen to him and see if what he believes makes sense. It is not fair to anybody to not consider their side. He has considered the evolutionist's point of view, and if I am not mistaken said once that for a part of his childhood he believed in evolution, but then found the theory lacking in scientific evidence. The main thing that he fights against is that it is taught as a fact, which it certianly is not. No one has observed evolution and as such evolution is only a theory. Moreover, many of the "evidences" for evolution were disproved decades ago.

Yes, I do know who Kent Hovind is and I respect his work that he has done for creation/science and telling the truth about dinosaurs. I wonder if we ran a campaign if we could come up with enough money to pay his taxes so he and his wife could be released from jail?

Why is it, that people are so quick to judge not knowing him or his life personally?.We don't know his circumstances or the reason that he didn't pay his taxes. Maybe he had an accountant who did this to him. For all we know he might have just been lacking common sense like a lot of the people in this world do and just like everyone else is suffering the consequences of bad choices. Don't forget about the statement that says Judge not, for you may be judged also.

I am always amused when someone claims that another person says that someone is "in jail for no real reason."

Based on my experience that usually is a real reason. So I looked him up.

"Kent E. Hovind (born January 15, 1953) is an American evangelist and prominent "Young Earth" creationist. The self-styled "Dr. Dino" (whose Ph.D, from an unaccredited university, is in Christian education) established the Creation Science Evangelism Ministry in 1989.[1] Hovind previously spoke frequently in schools, churches, university debates and on radio and television broadcasts arguing for young earth creationism. He is a subject of controversy and public scrutiny.

On November 2, 2006, Hovind was found guilty by a jury in a Pensacola, Florida federal court of fifty-eight federal tax and tax-related offenses; his wife, Jo, was also convicted on 44 counts. Hovind is currently being held by the Escambia County Sheriff's Office awaiting sentencing on January 9, 2007. He has been ordered to forfeit $430,400 and faces a maximum of 288 years in prison."

So it appears that there were 58 "real reasons" for him to be in jail!

I'm reading an article about him and his beliefs right now. It says that he thinks 9/11 was a government conspiracy, the Oklahoma City bombing was planned by the gov't, the moon landings never occurred, World Wars I and II were planned by the gov't, and that diseases such as AIDS, West Nile fever, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis are all part of a government "biowarfare research" project. Holy crap this guy is a moron. Does anyone actually take him seriously?

Edit: Um, I got all of the above from a creationist website, not a "pro-evolutionist" website. If you don't believe me, look at the direct quotes below:

For no reason. Right.

He's a tax dodger, and a convicted felon, as well as a professional liar. If he doesn't want to act like an American, he should have just moved out of our country.

When you say "put in jail for no reason", you undermine your integrity as well. That's simply deliberate dishonesty on your part. Have you forgotten "thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", or are you just deliberately breaking that commandment?

Correction: Not paying taxes for years is a real reason for people to go to jail.

Hows about some details? Is he in jail for "alleged" child molestation? If so let him rot.

OK, I googled it, if he is indicted, then he is guilty, I have to pay my taxes, what makes him so special.

The God I believe in is not short of cash.
