Oh, would that it were true! Wouldn't it be great if 86% realized that "God" should be removed from our money and pledge?
Maurine, in your attempt to cut and paste this fundy chain mail (see http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/godpoll.asp) you inadvertently reversed the poll results! Ha ha!
Please try to think for yourself for a change. But if you must copy others, please do it accurately.

Honey, when you are the minority, you just gotta go with the flow. There would be a problem if the world was catering to the 14%. Don't you think? I personally don't care whether the money says it or not, it'll still spend the same. I don't say the Pledge of Allegiance, only because it isn't required of me on a daily basis. However if my child didn't want to say it, I wouldn't expect them to be forced to, or punished for not doing it. Now, that said, these are issues in the U.S., and are we not a democracy? Majority rules.

How was the question worded and was the survey done only in areas where they can better predict the outcome?
Remember, they intent of it being in the Pledge was to week out communists. They figured that anyone who objected or refused to say it was a communist. Do you know how many people's lives were ruin as a result of the actions took by our government representatives who promoted this? Besides, God intends to destroy all the nations of the Earth, along with their money and symbols of nationalism, so it doesn't really matter one way or another.

I don't understand what you mean. We live in a democracy. In such matters, it is the majority that rules. We also have an established rule of separation of church and state. Between those two factors, all mention of God must be removed from our currency and pledge.
I would like to pledge allegience to my nation, which I love, wothout also professing belief in the Christian god.

I agree. But I think what makes people not want In God We Trust is the people who will preach & not stop. I believe but I'd never try & make an atheist believe. To each is own, but in my opinion only I wish more people believed

What was God doing before he made everything? Why can he only have ONE son? Did he make Hell at the same time as Hull?

It doesn't offend me, I just think it's out of place. "One nation under God" implies that, if you don't believe in God, you're somehow not a part of this nation. It excludes not only atheists but agnostics and polytheists as well. It's as out of place as "one nation Republican" or "one nation liberal" would be. This is one nation regardless of whether we worship one god, one goddess, many gods, or no gods at all.
