You should invest in nailpolish and keep them painted. You wont want to bite pretty nails and the smell and taste will keep you away if you get tempted. If you can go two weeks the temptation will be easy to thwart.

I used to bite my nails and I was able to stop by putting this clear nail polish on my fingers called "bite it" it comes in a round-shape bottle with a nail polish applictor with the words "bite it" crossed out on the bottle. You can find it at CVS for less than 5 bucks.
The taste of it is awful and it leaves an unbearable after taste, which is why it works. It's perfectly safe though.
Green soap works just as well- but it can wash off the "bite it" polish doesn't wash off.

Only thing that works for me is always having an emery board (nail file) with me. When I get the urge to bite, I use the file instead.

Maybe you are subconciously embarrassed about the excessive length if your fingers and are just trying to take them down a few centimeters. Try looking at pictures of gorillas to make yourself feel better by comparison.

Dip your fingertips in nail polish remover. The smell and taste of nasty chemicals will be sure to make you keep your fingers out of your mouth.

When I was younger, I found that I was doing this too, but the reason was that I wasn't busy enough. When I was too busy doing things, I stopped.

Put some clear nail polish on, it always helps me because it tastes nasty. Also, colored polish works because then you want to make sure you don't chip the polish. :)
