I really hope not! The rumors of a second coup on Thursday were wrong; they were only changing the military personnel stationed in Bangkok after the newyears bombing and people jumped to the "coup" conclusion when they saw the fresh troops being transported in.
But people are nervous for a reason; there is a split in the military between supporters of the old government and the new, and the leaders are doing little to mend it. If they don't start getting things done soon (except for covering their own political butts), people may support another coup attempt. My feeling is nobody really wants the Thaksin government back because of the corruption, but the corruption of last year is starting to look better than the disorganized finger-twiddling of now.

Just talked to my sister in Chiang Mai 2 hours ago, she said 'not likely!' but people still are afraid of going out to public places and tourism is suffering. Hopefully things cool down soon (politically). I still think it is a much safer place than some other countries.

It already happened but it won't again. It would be bad for tourism and thats a BIG deal for the economy and the people. It's safe and fun and a fine place to go.
