I have heard that Service Pack 2 may be the culprit. Is this true. Other programs have also slowed down.

It happened all the time, you will need to remove the temporary files from your hard drive
go to
C: > Documents and settings > [your user name] > local settings > temp

and clear every thing there

When you install a Service Pack it may include additional features. Most people just don't have enough RAM in their computers to begin with. Resellers should have been smacked for that.

If you have 512MB of RAM or less you should upgrade to 1GB.

Go to system tools and do a disk clean up and then defragment...see if that helps.
