About a year ago, I lost 40 pounds. Like you, I used a treadmill and switched to diet soda. I also ate Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet and Healthy Choice meals, watching my calorie intake. Many days, my calorie intake was actually less than my calories burned (I know this because my treadmill had that info as part of its display, along with speed and distace walked/ran).
I later was told that burning more calories than you take in could be dangerous, so you might want to check with your doctor about that. If the treadmill you're getting doesn't have these features, there are pedometers (usually less than $10, even for top of the line) that do have them.
As for routines and how long...do what is comfortable first, to get your body accustomed to the new level of activity. Then after a couple of days, push your boudaries. Leave your comfort zone behind. Not a lot. Build up gradually. At the end of your workout, you should be out of breath and have an elevated heart rate, but you shouldn't feel dizzy or like your chest is about to burst. There should also be some guidelines included in the packaging of the treadmill when you get it home.
GOOD LUCK!! I know you can do it!

Congrats on the purchase of your treadmill.
Suggestion - music, television while you are on it. Don't forget to adjust the incline as you get more comfortable.
Weights, yoga/pilates as well to help to tone.....muscle weighs more than fat and helps to burn stored fat faster! If you don't have weights use water bottles, juice containers etc. When it comes to exercise the hardest part is putting on the running shoes!
as for diet - you did the right thing switching from regular pop....try to limit your intake though even of diet. water is good, if you are having trouble drinking your eight bottles a day try adding crystal lite.....no calories and makes it easier to drink if you are not a big water drinker.
Bake, Grill foods -------- do NOT FRY
Take it easy on Potatoes, Pasta and Breads (unhealthy carbs)
never go more than 4 hours without something to eat even if it is just a handful ie.15 nuts, celery stick plus meals, don't forget dessert......will make you less likely to be munching while watching TV good idea for desserts are sugar free puddings, jello's etc........if you have to snack watching tv......water, celery or air popped pop corn......no butter try the butter flavoured cooking spray!
Or if you want unconventional and a different idea all together......it is due out in a book soon it is called the reverse diet.......switch your meals around so for breakfast you are having what you would normally have at dinner (chicken, potatoes, veggies etc.) the theory is to have your biggest meal of the day so that you have all day to burn it off.....not at the end of your day when most people become less active!
Hope it Helps.......Keep up the Good Work!

Using the treadmill means jogging, i would recommend doing jump rope because it burns more calories than jogging while also relieving the amount of stress placed on the legs. Also, stop drinking any form of soda its still bad for u. U can also try eating more fruits and vegetables and more water. About 30 to 60 min. for exercise. stay away from junk food and fatty food. If u want the easy route, u could try diet pills or liposuction although i wouldnt recommend this

to bad your wasting your hard earned money on a treadmill, but anyway..........45 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week and do this, I love this routine and it works really, really, well, the first time your going to have to experiment a bit: Start at a good walking pace find whats comfortable for you but it has to be a quick pace. Quick walking pace for 5 minutes, kick up the speed to a good sprint for one minute, knock down the speed to a good jog for 2 minutes, and then back down to you quick walking pace. Do this 4 times in a row...like in sets, 3-4 times a week (day off in between). As you get better, pick up your speeds or extend your time in the sprint and the jog, watch your heart rate don't exceed 70%. Lay off the diet soda, and sodas of all kinds, caffeine, sugars etc. eat right, pound down the water daily(64-128oz's a day) I'll bet you'll lose 20 lbs. in 4-6 weeks and be lean and toned.

Stay away from cokes all together it doesn't matter if it's diet or not.
First start off walking or jogging, whatever you're comfortable with for maybe 15-30 minutes.
After a couple months once your body is used to the exercise kick it up, maybe run at a fast pace the whole time instead.
Eating healthy - whole wheat foods, lots of veggies, fruits, and some protein. Stay away from red meat, eat white meat chicken, pork, or fish. Substitute your coke with water or green tea.

Don't eat after 6-6:30pm. Plenty of water through out the day. Exercise about 3 to 4 days out of the week for 45 minutes. Lay off the breads and treat yourself to ONLY one desert a week. Don't break the rules.

diet soda is just as bad as regular soda. water is good and pure juices. eat small portions of food. eat plenty of fruits and veggies, foods high in whole grains things like that. start out on your tredmill for about 15 minutes a day then work yourself up to 1 hour. light weights will help with toning your muscles, be sure to stretch before any exercising. best wishes to you!

Eat healthier, eat less, drink lots of ice cold water.. 60 ounces or more a day, and exercise, and do cardio..walking, running, jumprope, etc. I lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks doing this.
This is at a rate of 2lbs a week , which is healthy and realistic.
Chicken is a good low fat food to eat, grapes, any fruit really.
30 minutes of cardio and yoga or stretching is good.

well cut the soda completely and drink water, it is a natural cleanser which will help. eat 6 smaller meals a day to control hunger, and use the treadmill. You should see results in about 30 days.
