There is a guy I've been dating for almost a year, the problem is the relationship is long distance. He tries his best to keep up communication but I am always getting pissy cause he doesn't call enough, or make enough time for me. I am trying to be cool, not clingy or needy, but ever so often I break down and go crazy in front of him. I don't want to lose him. Sometimes I feel like I'm more invested than he is. But when I try to pull back I only think about him more. How can I stop obsessing about him? Please help. I'll even end the relationship if that is the only way. I can not handle being this out of control. I'm in my 30s and this should have passed by now. I think about him constantly after a year. Please help me to release my grip, a little, or let me know if I need to let go all together.

The best way to such scenario is to redirect your attentions(lightly) to other attractive guys, hopefully being multitudinally distracted on other guys will cure your obsession and save you from falling into another "one" guy. Letting other guys "counteract" the effects of this guy inside your mind instead of just you dealing with him. You see, quitting this guy is like quitting ciggarettes, the more you try cold turkey the more you think of him. So what you do instead is try high quality premium cigars for a short time until you don't want ciggarettes anymore. After a few weeks you'll notice you're much healthier, your teeth has gotten whiter, and your smile has gotten wider. You be feeling like a brand new person again !!!

I know how you feel. And i don't think you're "obsessing",

The truth is long distance relationships aren't for everyone. Some of us (especially us women) need to have someone around, who we can spend time with, and talk to regularly.
We need attention! Theres noting wrong with that.

How serious is your relationship? Could either of you sacrifice to be nearer each other. If not, I suggest letting him know you need more, maybe it would be best to break it off.

If the long distance thing doesnt work for you, maybe you should move on so that your emotional needs can be met.

Wish you the best!

Your a romantic and I think it's sweet that you like him that much! Perhaps you should get in more contact in person with him. It is very hard to do long distance relationships. That is one thing I would never do for fear of losing her. Perhaps if it does not work out, you should at least stay as friends. I am guessing long distance means that you live very far apart or he is in the military and such?

I wish you luck, that is a difficult situation that only someone with experience would know how to solve.

End the relationship. How could a long distance relationship work in the long run? Think about it. No intimacy, no face-to-face conversations. There's not much chance that the relationship will amount to something. Plus if it's causing you constant stress you're better off without him anyway.

At least, you could formulate a few harmless crushes on people you see frequently, and get out w/ your girlfriends more often.

Don't wait by the phone :-) Good luck!
