could someone please tell me what it's supposed to do, and give some insight as to why if a company were spending that much, why they would't explain the product? Are they just trying to create the aura of mystique?

There are a great many prescription drugs that spend millions on advertising without ever even telling you what their medications is used to treat! I suspect that their entire time alottment is used describing the side-effects. As for Head-on, it's probably a similar situation. They only have so many seconds to tell you about it, and they figure that most people don't really care HOW it works, only THAT it works. It's my understanding that the medicine in Head-on is absorbed through the skin, and goes to work on the pain from an almost direct contact application.
The thing I wonder about it whether using on another body part (say a pulled muscle in your arm) would also work.

It is a homeopathic product that is supposed to relieve headache pain by rubbing the product directly on your forehead. I have used a similar product in the past but didn't get such good results. There are products like this out there which contain peppermint oil that you put on your temples to relieve headache pain also. It has to do with aromatherapy.
