Tell your visitors to completely ignore him and turn their back on him every time. Not to make eye contact with the dog or react to him at all. Once your dog realises he's not going to get any attention from this behaviour he'll stop.

yikes! jumping can be a big problem. If jumping is an issue, Petsmart offers a great training program. They offer a 1 hour session for eight weeks at $119. You accompany your dog though simple commands such as sit, stay, come, down, and others. This class also offers socialization with other dogs and people as well. The dogs get used to your voice commands over noise and distractions since the classes take place in the Petsmart store! You dog then graduates at the end and you can sign up for more advanced training classes if you like. You can pay ahead of time or over the phone by credit card. The trainers are also very friendly and can help you with others training problems you might have!

I took my dog to puppy class. The instructor said that his German Shepards used to do that to visitors. He'd put a leash on the dog and bring it in the house. If the dog jumped, he gave him a certain amount of leash outside with the rest put in the front door. After the dog calmed down, he'd bring it back in and introduce it to the visitors. If the same thing happened, out went the dog. Eventually, the dog calms down and learns that if it doesn't want that to happen, it's not allowed to jump. Also, warn your visitors to move out of the way of your jumping dog. It's no fun if the dog can't really jump up on them.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/XJCeT
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Gently lift your knee into the dogs belly when he jumps and firmly say "NO." This puts the dog off balance. Having a dog with a good foundation in basic obedience will also help.

i've found the best way is to fold the arms and ignore the dog until it's calm and then introduce the person under your terms. remember you're in charge not them

Your dog should be put in a crate if he can't behave OR......you can train him to sit or lay down for people to pet him. You can attend an obedience class to train him.......a dog is NEVER to old to learn new things.
