All scientific circles in the world today agree that the planets were originally composed of a mass of Sodium gas and that first the heavens and the earth were joined together as a single entity and then they separated from each other. Centuries ago, the Quran referred to this scientific theory.
It says when describing the creation of the heavens: “Then God turned to the creation of the heavens (the planets), when they were but a smoky substance.” (41:11)
“Do the unbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were joined together before we separated them, and that We brought all living things into existence from water? Why do they still not believe in God?” (21:30)
Thus the Quran unveils one of the great mysteries of nature: the planets were originally composed of smoky substance (mass of Sodium gas), and the separation of the planets from a huge object and then their separation from each other. Since at the time of revelation of the Quran, the general level of knowledge and science was extremely low, does this not constitute a proof of the heavenly nature of the Quran?

Yes, and the Sumerians said it before the Quran when they said The Earth was a part of two who were separated by the Gods and the Earth remained intact and became inhabited. I believe God to be the ultimate beginning of science and evolution. Makes perfect sense to me!
:) The Bible has it's heavenly proof as well...alot of it is metaphoric...ie created heaven and earth in 7 days...most of us modern Christians can figure out that the timeline must scientifically be a metaphor. There are many stories of truth in all religions pretty much. Too bad we can't get the fanatics in all religions to see the universal truths most all religions share! Peace be with You, A Christian American...I also study the Sumerians, the Chinese, the Kabbalah, the Quran, Hindu, the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Olmecs, and more...to see what the World is saying about different ways to worship The God of All of Us.
:)

Hey Budd,
in the christian bible there are many similar things mentioned about the creation. it doesnt mean that anyone believes any less in God as creator than any other muslim.
There are some scholars that dispute the korans heavenly origin, especially when they say that Mohammed bought Jewish scriptures and plagerized them into existence.
But the Jews and egyptians traded back and forth other religious doctrines and some come from Sumeria. While there is still other origins outside of earths orbit as well.
Heavenly origins happen today as well, but remember many ancient religions were started by Fallen angels and there are many decietful things in the whole world NOT just in christianity.

Th Quran teaches many things that Christians question and flat out disagree with. Your question addresses a small example.
An enormous example is that the Quran teaches Muslim followers that it is a good idea to cut of the heads of folks who doesn't agree with their religion and the Quran refers to persons of other religions as 'Infidels.' I can't follow this train of thought and this is why I tend to disregard everything the Quran stands for. The Islamic poplation is trusting a religion full of violence and destruction.

Beautiful! You know that the Quran is the first and early revealer that the earth moves and that the sun and moon is in constant movement. Scientist just discovered that nearly 50 years ago.
The funny thing is that scientist or non- Muslims don't look at this reality of our truth.
By the way "I like that picture of Imam Ali (PBHU).

And in the Bible it says that in the beginning God separated the waters and formed the open firmament (heaven or more precisely atmosphere).

One of the arguments used by Muslim creationists against me when I support evolution is that something can't come from nothing-then they tell me that the entire universe with all of its complexity magically emerged from a mass of "sodium gas".

Read only the first sentence of the Bible. When was the beginning? I m sure that Yehovah laughs and frowns on our attempts to describe those things that only He knows. I can promise that one day we will know. Be careful to guard you soul and be of good use while you re here.
