Ever see those big baking potatoes in the supermarket now?
They are sealed in plastic and the little tab on them says, DO NOT PRICK HOLES, you cook them eight min in a microwave oven. Very good. They cost about a dollar each, so to save money I wrap baking potatoes, in cling wrap very tightly, same thing, just as good. They make a noise the last two minutes, like they are going to blow up. But I have been baking them in the microwave for a year now, and my family loves them. If you like baked sweet potatoes, they started selling them already wrapped about six months ago. Just as good baked in the microwave.

Wash thoroughly and then dry. Pierce using a sharp pointed knife around 20-30 times all over the potato.
Place around the edge of the microwave's turntable and then cook on full power for between 10-12 minutes depending upon size of the potato. Check that the potato is ready by inserting the sharp knife - if it can cut smoothly into the centre of the potato with no resistance then it's ready.
They won't turn out soggy, they won't explode, they won't need covering in kitchen roll or wet cloths, they won't need cutting in half. They will be delicious and a healthy meal.

For a rather large potatoe(the large baking kind) I cook them starting at 10 minutes in the microwave.
I usually take a piece of wax paper put olive oil or butter on it (just a bit then salt and pepper and maybe garlic powder. Then I put the potato on it(make sure you prick it with a fork or you will have an exploding potato) and wrap in the wax paper.
Not as good as in the oven but not too shabby. Sometimes if I have more time I only cook the potato for 5 mintues(I don't put it in wax paper or seasoning) and then finish in the oven at 400 for30 minutes.

If I do baked potatoes in the microwave, I always put a wet wash cloth over them while cooking. It takes about fifteen to twenty minutes, you'll know they're done when a fork goes in one of them pretty easy. Turn the microwave off about every five minutes while cooking and rewet the wash cloth, this just makes sure your potatoes don't dry out and the potato skin doesn't get crunchy. I cook them this way all the time, so I know it works.

Wash well, poke several holes with a fork and cook on high about 10 minutes. Baked potatoes don't get the nice crisp skin in the microwave but I guess it's quicker...I've seen potatoes individually wrapped in the produce dept. that you cook right in the wrap.

Pierce each jacket potato about four times then wrap individually in a sheet of kitchen roll.
Put in your microwave and cook on full power for 10 mins, if you are cooking two at once, cook for 12 mins

Prick them, put them in on highest power for about 10 minutes per spud (assuming it's a biggish one). Nuke until it feels very hot and stiff-rubbery thentake it out and wrap it in aluminium foil for 3-4 mins. Microwaved potatoes will never be as good as oven-baked ones so don't expect too much.

You need to stab it with a knife at least 10 times on each side, then micorwave on full power, if you have about an 800 - 900w microwave, i'd do it for about 4 mins each side (reduce the time slightly for a lower watt microwave). Then, if you want it to taste really good i'd stick it in the oven for 10 mins on gass mark 5 / 6 (200 degrees) to get it a little bit crispier. :o)

The only way I know is to wash them peirce them with a fork then just put on a microwavable plate......
Depending on the microwave I would try 5 mins each time and keep putting them back in until they are soft
