Yes to insert tomato and mustard.

But I really like grilled cheese after the cheese has set and at this point it's impossible to pull apart.

I guess memories from school cafeteria lunches, the sandwiches set so long that the cheese wasn't melty inside anymore.

Wow can you imagine making 500 grilled cheese sandwiches?

Yes it really quite simple all you have 2 do it take both sides of the bread and pull them apart. If this doesn't work for you maybe you aren't doing it right.

No I never have. But I've always wondered why it takes a crowbar to open a Snickers - while a potato chip bag (which I want to reuse) will tear clear to the bottom at a blink of an eye.
